50 Years of MacNaughton: Leading with Purpose. A Legacy of Giving Back
At MacNaughton, what matters most isn’t just what we build—it’s what we help sustain.
For more than 50 years, our work in Hawai‘i has been shaped by a belief that strong communities are built over time—through consistent investment, meaningful partnerships, and a willingness to show up when it matters.
In 2016, that commitment took more formal shape with the creation of the MacNaughton Foundation. Since then, the foundation has helped focus and deepen our efforts—supporting organizations working across housing, education, healthcare, and community development.
That includes a $1 million, five-year commitment to U.S. Vets to help provide housing and long-term support for veterans, as well as six-figure contributions to organizations like Kupu Hawai‘i, Teach For America Hawai‘i, Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children, and others working to strengthen the fabric of our community.
But the impact isn’t just financial.
Across our company, our leadership and team members are deeply involved in the organizations they care about—nearly all of our leadership team members serving on boards, advising nonprofits, and contributing their time and expertise to causes ranging from sustainability and education to healthcare and economic development, organizations such as The Nature Conservancy, American Red Cross of Hawaii, Child and Family Service, Oahu Transportation Services (aka The Bus and Handivan), Hawaii Community Foundation, YWCA, Punahou School, Hawaii Preparatory Academy, Assets School, Le Jardin, and KCAA Preschools.
And just as importantly, our teams are out in the community—getting their hands dirty, side by side with our partners. Whether it’s working with U.S. Vets, restoring native ecosystems through the Genki Ala Wai Project, supporting Kupu’s youth programs, or helping build homes with Habitat for Humanity, these efforts reflect a shared belief that showing up matters.
As we mark 50 years, we’re proud of the relationships we’ve built and the work we’ve been able to support—but we also know there’s more to do.
Because investing in Hawai‘i isn’t a milestone. It’s an ongoing responsibility—and one we’re committed to for the long run.
